Gmelin sculps. 1791 Text unten: Le Monument de Salomon Gesner a Zuric Der vorliegende Kupferstich ist von Gmelin hergestellt worden nach einer Vorlage von Johann Heinrich Wüest im Jahre 1791. Im Platzspitzpark in Zürich steht auf einem erhöhten Rondell, von Bäumen umgeben, das Denkmal für Salomon Gessner. Der Bildhauer Alexander Trippel (1744 - 1793) schuf dieses Denkmal, das einen Bezug auf Gessners Dichtungen nimmt. Es stellt eine Szene aus "Daphins und Micon" dar. Im Vordergrund stehen einige Spaziergänger und bestaunen das überdimensionale Denkmal.
